So many of us are time-poor. It feels like we never really have enough time to do all of the things to be healthy! That’s why people are on the lookout for the silver bullet that is going to change their life. You’re always searching for that one thing to help you lose the baby weight, tone up or just feel happy and energetic. So I thought I’d share the fastest way to get healthy.

The Fastest Way To Get Healthy: Make The Decision

Let’s be honest. You KNOW what you need to do to be healthier. But if you’re not acting on it, it’s because you haven’t made the decision to change something.

Change is not instantaneous. There is no meal plan that will help you safely lose 5kg of fat in a week There is no workout that you can do for 3 days to get 6 pack abs. People who transform their bodies do it by making small daily choices consistently.

If you want to change your life, you have to decide that is what you are going to do.

The Three Ingredients For Change

In order to make a change in your life, there are three essential ingredients you need to understand.

1. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want. The unconscious mind is the mind that rules the body. But unlike the conscious mind, the unconscious mind doesn’t really recognise negatives!

For example, if I say to you ‘DON’T think of a blue tree’ – what do you immediately picture? This is because you unconsciously focus on the topic rather than the negative.

The same goes for health. If you focus on NOT eating chocolate, NOT skipping meals, or NOT skipping the gym – you can guess what is probably going to happen.

Instead, focus on what you DO want. Do you want to make healthy choices when eating out? Or maybe go to the gym 3 times each week? Focus on those goals.

2. Take action. It’s one thing to think the thoughts, and it’s another to follow through on them. Take actions each day that are working towards the thing that you do want.

The action doesn’t have to be massive – just consistent! It might be as simple as looking at the menu ahead of time and pre-deciding on what to order, or getting your gyms clothes ready the night before.

3. Deal with your stuff. If you don’t take action one day, it’s not an instant fail. Instead, get curious about why it happened, and learn from it.

Did you have a stressful day at work? Was there an unexpected outing where you couldn’t check the menu beforehand? Whatever it is, there is a chance to learn and adapt for next time.

Why Fad Diets Fail

Once you understand the three ingredients for change, it’s a lot easier to understand why fad diets don’t work. They are based on the principles of reducing calories and increasing exercise – which are ingredients for weight loss.

But when you follow a fad diet, what are you thinking about? Are you focused on all of the foods that you can eat? Or is it all about the things that you’re deprived of? It comes right back to not thinking of a blue tree all over again.

Fad diets are fundamentally flawed in their design, simply because they don’t take into account how the unconscious mind works. So you might as well give them a miss – they are not the fastest way to get healthy!
